The inverted apex surround increases cone surface area, while Spider Plateau Venting and a radial-ribbed t-yoke help move heat away from the voice coil. A cast-aluminum basket and glass-fiber cone round out the subwoofer's construction. For the vehicle, twenty 20 x 18-inch sheets deliver 50 sq ft of 100-mil virgin butyl rubber with an aluminum heat-resistant coating and pressure-activated adhesive. Treat doors, floors, trunks, hoods, roofs, or quarter panels to reduce rattles, engine and exhaust noise, and sound leakage. The hexagon embossing flattens as the material is pressed into place, and the included wood-and-steel roller helps apply it. Sheets ship flat for easier handling.
