Audio Technica ATM230 Hypercardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone Drum Mic+Mount

The ATM230 is a compact hypercardioid dynamic microphone built for toms, snare, and percussion. Its proprietary capsule handles very high SPL at close range, so you can place it inches from a drum head without the signal breaking up, and the 30 Hz to 12 kHz response captures the low-end body of a floor tom along with the attack of a rack tom.

The hypercardioid pattern rejects sound arriving from the sides and rear, which keeps hi-hat bleed and stage wash out of the tom channels and gives you more usable gain before feedback. A low-profile body helps here too: the mic tucks in close to the shell instead of standing in the drummer path or the sightlines of a camera.

The included AT8665 drum mount clamps to the rim so you avoid a stand for every drum, which matters on tight stages and in cramped studio rooms. All-metal construction stands up to touring, and a soft protective pouch keeps the mic safe between shows.

At 0.64 lb and 3.2" long, the ATM230 fits kits, cajons, congas, and hand percussion in live rigs, rehearsal rooms, and project studios.
