Product Description

The Audio-Technica BP350ST-UB is a small-format MS stereo microphone for broadcast, production, and field recording. Independent cardioid and figure-of-eight condenser elements sit in one compact capsule, capturing true stereo from a body barely larger than a lavalier.

Two mounting options ship in the box, which is what makes this kit adaptable. The AT8494 boundary housing drops the mic flat against a table, stage lip, or altar rail, with a magnetized base plate for metal surfaces and four screw holes for permanent placement. The AT8490 5" gooseneck and AT8491UC clip-on mount put the same capsule close to the action on a podium, a rail, a light stand, or a tripod through the mount's 1/4" camera thread. Because the element shares the ATM350a body, every ATM350a mount and mounting system fits it too.

A switch on the included AT8547 power module picks between wide stereo, narrow stereo, and discrete mid-side output. Mid-side gives you stereo width you can adjust after the fact, places voices naturally in a mix, and stays intact when the two channels fold down to mono, which matters for broadcast. The two-in-one capsule also sidesteps the time alignment and comb filtering problems that come with a spaced pair. A second switch adds an 80 Hz high-pass filter to cut HVAC rumble and stage noise.

Response stays clear and well balanced at high SPLs, so the mic holds up on sporting events, press conferences, theater, studio productions, and documentary work. The permanently attached 7.6 m (25') cable terminates in a TA5F connector, and the supplied 36 cm (14.2") TA5F to dual-XLR5-M cable connects to any preamp with phantom power.

Features

    • True Stereo From One Small Capsule

Cardioid and figure-of-eight elements share a 12.7 mm body, so you get wide stereo pickup from a mic that stays out of sight on camera.

    • Stereo Width You Set Later

Record discrete mid-side signals and adjust width in post, or pick wide or narrow stereo at the power module when you are going straight to air.

    • Mono Folds Down Cleanly

Mid-side output keeps its depth when both channels collapse to mono, which protects broadcast feeds and avoids the comb filtering of a spaced pair.

    • Two Mounts, Many Positions

The magnetized boundary housing sits flat on tables and stage lips, while the 5" gooseneck and clip-on mount put the capsule close to the source.

    • Quiet In Noisy Rooms

A switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter on the AT8547 power module trims HVAC rumble and crowd noise before it reaches your preamp.
