Control 85M

The Control 85M is a 5.25" two-way coaxial landscape speaker from the Control 80 Series, built to sit on or in the ground and deliver full-range music and paging outdoors. Its mushroom-style design radiates sound 360° horizontally, so one speaker covers the area all around it, while the 160° vertical pattern puts the primary listening zone 10° to 50° up from the ground, right where people walk and sit. That makes it a natural fit for mall walkways, theme parks, sports venues, hotel and resort grounds, casino entrances, restaurant patios, and garden areas where a speaker should be heard more than seen.

A 5.25" polypropylene cone woofer and a coaxially mounted 3/4" dome tweeter cover 55 Hz to 18 kHz, with 86 dB sensitivity and a 105 dB maximum SPL for clear background music and announcements. In the direct 8 ohm setting it handles 80W of continuous pink noise (160W program), and the built-in multi-tap transformer connects to 70V lines at 30W, 15W, 7.5W, or 3.8W and 100V lines at 30W, 15W, or 7.5W.

The enclosure is molded from 6 mm thick polyethylene with the color running all the way through the material, so a scrape from a mower or trimmer won't expose a different color underneath. The hunter green finish blends into lawns and planting beds, and the powder coated stainless steel grille holds up outdoors. It's rated IP56 against dust and water jets and exceeds MilSpec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV. A fully isolated center chamber protects the wiring, and two stages of gland nuts keep water out of the cable entry.
