CDi4000

The Crown CDi4000 is a two-channel commercial power amplifier for permanent installations that run audio all day. Each channel produces 1200 W at 4 ohms, and the amplifier is rated for 2-, 4-, and 8-ohm loads plus 70V and 140V constant-voltage lines, so one chassis covers a pair of low-impedance speakers or a long run of ceiling speakers across a gymnasium.

Setup happens at the front panel. The LCD screen walks through configuration without a laptop or proprietary software, and onboard digital signal processing handles crossovers, EQ filters, delay, and output limiting. Up to 20 user-defined DSP presets can be stored, so a room running one tuning for a service and another for a weekday event switches between them in seconds.

A switch-mode universal power supply keeps the unit at 22.0 lb in a 2RU, 19" rack chassis, and the 15A IEC connector accepts a standard detachable cord. Measured performance holds steady: 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio (A-weighted), THD under 0.5%, damping factor above 500, and frequency response of +0/-1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 1W. Input sensitivity is 1.4V for full rated power at 8 ohms, with input impedance of 20k ohms balanced and 10k ohms unbalanced.

The CDi4000 fits gymnasiums, auditoriums, event centers, and distributed systems covering large floor areas. Because it handles both low- and high-impedance loads, a single model can serve zones with different speaker layouts, which keeps spare inventory simple for integrators supporting several sites at once.
