The dbx ZC-8 gives end users control over a zone without giving them access to the system. Mounted on the wall, it provides push-button up and down volume control plus a programmable rotary source selector for dbx ZonePRO devices. Staff in a restaurant, retail floor, gym, or conference room can change what plays and how loud it plays, while the installer's tuning, limiting, and routing stay locked away.

Wiring uses standard CAT5 or CAT5E with RJ-45 connectors, the same cable already pulled on most job sites, which keeps installation cost and labor low. Two RJ-45 jacks allow series wiring from one controller to the next. Run length depends on how many controllers share the line: roughly 600 ft with three controllers and 300 ft with six. Parallel wiring through a ZC-BOB supports up to six controllers at 1000 ft. DIP switches set each controller's address so the ZonePRO knows which zone the panel belongs to.

Control is analog DC voltage, which keeps the wiring simple and behavior predictable over long runs. The ZC-8 is one of nine dbx Zone Controllers covering source selection, volume, muting, program and scene recall, and fire safety muting, so a system can combine panels to give each room exactly the control it needs and nothing more.

Safety certifications include UL 60065, IEC 60065, EN 55013, and E60065, which matters on commercial jobs that go through inspection.
