HCC525CX

The Hifonics HCC525CX is a pair of 5.25-inch two-way coaxial speakers from the COLOSSUS Classic line, built for factory door and dash locations that need more midbass than a 4-inch driver can produce. Each speaker handles 40W RMS and 80W peak with 88dB sensitivity, so they work on head unit power and open up further with an amplifier.

A 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter at the center of the cone extends the top end with output that stays natural at volume. The lightweight blue woven fiber cone responds quickly through the midrange, and a butyl rubber surround adds mid-bass impact while resisting heat and UV exposure through a door panel. A passive Butterworth crossover at 6kHz with a 12dB slope keeps the handoff between elements clean.

A pure copper voice coil on a Kapton former sheds heat, an epoxy-infused natural fiber spider holds the cone centered under power, and over-coil cooling exchanges air through the spider. A ferrite magnet keeps the motor small enough for shallow factory pockets while producing a strong field, and an anti-resonant stamped steel basket keeps flex and ringing out of the assembly.

Mounting takes a 4.48in cut-out with a 6.26in outside diameter and only 2.0in of depth, which is shallow enough for most door and dash replacement locations. Frequency response runs 80Hz to 20kHz. Grilles are not supplied, since these commonly install in factory dash positions. The pair weighs 3.85 lb.
