The Hifonics TPS-A500.1 is a compact THOR series mono amplifier built for powersports and marine use, rated at 1 x 500W into 2 ohms and 1 x 250W into 4 ohms. It is sized to run a subwoofer in a Polaris RZR, ATV, UTV, or golf cart, where space is short and the environment is hard on electronics.

Marine grade protection is why it survives out there. The amplifier meets ABYC and ASTM requirements with conformal coated circuit boards that resist salt spray and moisture, and gold-plated power, ground, speaker, and RCA connections fight corrosion at every contact point. Water resistance is built into the design rather than added later.

Installation uses quick-disconnect wiring, so the amplifier comes out in minutes for winter storage or to keep it out of sight when the machine is parked. Molex connectors handle 10 gauge power and the speaker output, and a single 30A fuse protects the circuit.

Tuning includes a switchable 300Hz low-pass filter, 0 to 12dB of bass boost at 45Hz, a 60Hz subsonic filter, and input sensitivity from 0.2V to 9V, which covers a phone-fed source or a factory-style head unit. Full Range Class-D topology produces the output from a small aluminum heat sink, with signal-to-noise rated above 100dB and 10Hz to 300Hz response. Three-stage protection circuits monitor thermal, overload, DC, and speaker short conditions with lighted indicators on the end panel. The chassis measures 3.70in x 5.51in x 1.77in and weighs 2.09 lb.
