ZS525CX

The Hifonics ZS525CX is a pair of 5.25 inch 2-way coaxial speakers built for factory door and dash locations that need more output than stock without a full component install. Each speaker handles 30W RMS and 200W peak, for 60W RMS and 400W peak per pair, at 4 ohms.

Response runs 60Hz to 20kHz with 88 dB sensitivity, so head unit power produces a clear improvement and 30W RMS per channel from an amplifier brings the midbass forward. The 4kHz crossover point sits lower than the smaller models in the line, which hands more of the vocal range to the 1 inch neo-Mylar soft dome tweeter and keeps voices clear at highway speed.

Cone material is alpha-cellulose, light enough for quick response and rigid enough for low end, paired with a moisture resistant rubber surround. A pure copper voice coil on a Kapton former, an epoxy infused natural fiber spider, and overcoil cooling handle heat and control travel under sustained power. The passive Butterworth crossover runs at 12dB per octave.

An anti-resonant stamped steel basket keeps frame resonance out of the output, and a ferrite motor keeps the magnet compact. Mounting cutout is 4.48 in, outside diameter is 6.26 in, and mounting depth is only 2 in, which clears window mechanisms in most doors. Grills are included for locations where the speaker is exposed; skip them when mounting behind a factory door panel.
