ZS653

The Hifonics ZS653 is a pair of 6.5 inch 3-way coaxial speakers, the size and configuration that covers most factory door and rear deck locations. Each speaker handles 50W RMS and 300W peak, for 100W RMS and 600W peak per pair, at 4 ohms.

Response spans 40Hz to 22kHz, the widest range in the Zeus coaxial line, with 88 dB sensitivity. That 40Hz low end means these carry real bass on their own, which matters in a vehicle without a subwoofer, and the 22kHz top keeps cymbals and detail intact.

The 3-way layout puts a 1 inch neo-Mylar soft dome tweeter and a supplementary driver on the same axis as the alpha-cellulose woofer cone, with a passive Butterworth crossover at 4kHz and 12dB per octave splitting the range. The cone rides on a moisture resistant rubber surround for midbass impact, and a pure copper voice coil on a Kapton former with an epoxy infused natural fiber spider keeps travel controlled. Overcoil cooling moves air across the coil during long, loud sessions.

The anti-resonant stamped steel basket keeps frame flex out of the sound, and a ferrite motor keeps the magnet small enough for common factory pockets. Mounting cutout is 5.59 in with a 7.01 in outside diameter and 2.13 in of depth. Grills are included for exposed locations such as rear decks and kick panels, and can be left off behind a factory door panel.
