This pair of JBL Control 64P/T pendant loudspeakers brings sound down to listening height in rooms with open architecture ceilings, exposed ductwork, or high ceilings where an in-ceiling speaker would fire from too far away. Each unit uses a 100 mm (4 in) full-range driver with a polypropylene-coated paper cone, cloth surround, and 20 mm (0.8 in) high-temperature copper voice coil, covering 65 Hz to 15 kHz at -10 dB with a 120 degree pattern.

Hanging the speaker closer to the audience is the practical advantage. Less distance means less level needed for the same intelligibility, which is why these work well in cafes, breweries, retail spaces, gyms, and lobbies with 16 ft ceilings. Power handling is 50 W continuous pink noise over 2 hours and 40 W over 100 hours, with 88 dB sensitivity producing 105 dB continuous and 111 dB peak SPL at 1 m.

Wiring runs 8 ohm direct or 70V/100V distributed with taps at 30W, 15W, 7.5W, and 3.7W at 70V. Two removable locking euro-block connectors handle input and loop-through, accepting up to 12 AWG wire, with rubber terminal covers included for damp locations.

Each speaker ships with two suspension cable systems, one main and one safety, each using 4.5 m (15 ft) of high-tensile galvanized steel cable rated 99 lb, with Gripple fasteners for infinitely adjustable height. The high-impact polystyrene cabinet carries an IP44 splash rating and exceeds Mil Spec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV. Both speaker and hanging cable system are UL listed. The white finish is paintable, and each unit measures 9.3 in diameter by 10.2 in high at 5.2 lb.
