Product Description

The JBL Control 24CT is a compact ceiling speaker for background music, foreground music, and music-plus-paging systems that need to sound better than a standard distribution speaker. This pair suits professional offices, airports, restaurants, and specialty retail where higher fidelity from the ceiling actually matters.

A 100 mm (4 in) woofer with a polypropylene-coated cone and pure butyl rubber surround handles the low end and holds up in humid rooms. An aluminum voice coil former pulls heat away for better long-term power handling. The coaxially mounted 19 mm (0.75 in) titanium-coated tweeter is diffraction-loaded, which is how the speaker gets its 130 degree conical pattern. That wide angle covers more floor per speaker, so the layout uses fewer units and less labor.

Frequency range runs 80 Hz to 20 kHz with 80 W continuous program and 40 W continuous pink noise handling, reaching 102 dB SPL at one meter. The computer-optimized ported enclosure gives warm bass for a 4 in driver, and JBL's SonicGuard overload protection works without being audible to listeners.

Wiring is up to you. The multi-tap transformer offers 70V taps at 30 W, 15 W, 7.5 W, and 3.7 W (100V: 30 W, 15 W, 7.5 W). The 16 ohm nominal impedance also lets you parallel multiple speakers on a low-impedance amplifier instead of building a constant-voltage system.

Installation hardware is complete: a C-shaped backing plate, tile support rails that fit 2 x 4 ft or 600 x 1200 mm tiles, a cutout template, a paint shield, and a removable locking connector accepting up to 12 AWG. Cutout is 6.6 in, overall size 7.9 x 7.7 in, and each speaker weighs 6 lb. The unit is listed for air handling spaces per UL1480 and UL2043.

Features

    • Wide Pattern Cuts The Speaker Count

A diffraction-loaded tweeter produces 130 degree conical coverage, so each speaker covers more floor and the install needs fewer units and less wire.

    • Higher Fidelity From The Ceiling

An 80 Hz to 20 kHz range with low distortion suits offices, airports, and restaurants where background music should sound like music.

    • Warm Bass From A 4 In Driver

A computer-optimized ported enclosure and a polypropylene-coated cone give this compact speaker warm low-end body that most sealed ceiling cans simply cannot produce.

    • Silent Overload Protection

SonicGuard limits the speaker during overload without audible artifacts, so the system stays reliable through long operating days at high playback levels.

    • Everything Needed To Mount It

Backing plates, tile rails for 2 x 4 ft tiles, cutout templates, paint shields, and locking connectors ship in the box for a same-day install.
