The Control 29AV fills the gap between compact Control Contractor speakers and larger Marquis Series models, built for venues that need more output and coverage flexibility than a small speaker provides without moving up to a full-size cabinet. An 8 inch Kevlar cone woofer pairs with a 1 inch compression driver mounted on a rotatable high-frequency horn, so the same speaker can be installed vertically or horizontally depending on room layout. The 110 degree by 85 degree horn delivers even, low-distortion coverage, and a steep-slope crossover with impedance-compensating circuitry keeps sonic character consistent throughout a room. A built-in line distribution transformer supports 70V, 100V, or direct 8 ohm operation with 110 W of tap capacity, minimizing insertion loss even at lower tap settings. SonicGuard overload protection guards against damage while staying inaudible during normal use, and magnetic shielding allows placement close to video monitors without interference. The speaker ships with JBL's InvisiBall mounting system for simple, theft-deterrent installation, plus ten suspension points for hanging or stand-mounted setups. Built for indoor or outdoor use, the Kevlar woofer, butyl rubber surround, and titanium compression diaphragm resist weather exposure, while a sealed input panel cover protects the terminals from moisture.
