The JBL CSS8018 is a 200 mm (8 in) dual-cone ceiling speaker with 10 W transformer taps, giving it more output than the 5 W models in the same series. Choose it where background music needs to hold up against crowd noise, kitchen equipment or open retail floors rather than just filling a quiet corridor. Sensitivity is 97 dB, the highest in the CSS line, and the frequency range of 50 Hz to 17 kHz covers music with usable low end and clear speech for paging. Coverage is 110 degrees, a slightly tighter pattern that concentrates output below each speaker in rooms with higher ceilings. The built-in transformer offers 25V, 70V and 100V taps at 10 W, 5 W, 2.5 W and 1.3 W with bare wire connection and a maximum insertion loss of 1.5 dB, and the driver handles 20 W continuous. Mount it open-back in a 216 mm (8.5 in) cutout at 73 mm depth behind the grille, or use the matching CSS-BB8 back can where an enclosure is required.
