The Kicker KMC2 is a marine digital media receiver built to drop into a standard 3-inch gauge opening on a boat, a side-by-side, or an ATV. It is the control center for a small system: a readable screen, a rotary encoder, and enough power to run the whole boat without a separate amplifier. Four channels of built-in power put out 25 W each and over 200 W of total peak power, which is enough to run a set of tower speakers or four cabin speakers off the head unit alone. When you want more, one set of RCA pre-amp outputs at 2.5 volts feeds an external amplifier for subwoofers or a louder speaker package. Sources cover the way people actually listen on the water: Bluetooth from a phone at up to 30 feet, USB playback off a memory stick with charging on the same port, an RCA input for a wired device, and an AM/FM tuner for local stations. USB handles MP2, MP3, WMA, WAV16, and FLAC16 files off a FAT32 memory stick. The screen is easy to read in daylight and a rotary encoder handles volume and menu selection, so the receiver stays usable with wet hands and while the boat is moving. IP66 construction stands up to rain, spray, and wash-down. Add one or more wired KRC12 remotes and you get the same volume, track, station, and source functions at the helm, at the stern, or anywhere else on the boat.
