The 9-inch ST-Series square mid-range is the large-format option for systems that need midrange loud enough to keep up with a wall of subwoofers. The bigger square cone carries nearly 20 percent more radiating area than a round 9 and reaches 94 dB sensitivity, so it plays louder than the 7-inch version on the same power. Each speaker handles 50 to 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms with 600 watts peak. Response runs 80 Hz to 5.5 kHz, which puts the emphasis on vocal body and midbass punch while bullet tweeters take the top end. The pressed pulp cone and treated cloth surround stay controlled at high excursion, and spring-loaded terminals accept 12 AWG wire so the speakers can be fed properly. Mounting depth is 3-9/16 inches behind a 7-13/16-inch square cutout, so plan for a door panel, kick panel or wall build rather than a factory location. A cutout template is included.
