The KBTR is a source unit built specifically for ATVs, UTVs, XTVs, and motorcycles, where a standard car head unit has no place to mount and no chance against the weather.

It clips into 2 x 1.4-inch mounting holes and fits most OEM double-switch knockouts, so it goes where a factory switch blank sits rather than requiring a custom panel. The IP66-rated housing handles rain, dust, and mud, which is the actual operating environment for these machines.

Bluetooth pairing takes one button press with any Bluetooth audio device, and range reaches 60 feet, enough to keep music playing while you walk to the cooler at camp. USB audio input plays a USB stick loaded with music, and AUX input handles any device with a line output.

Expansion is handled properly. A dedicated subwoofer RCA output with a 100 Hz low-pass at 12 dB/octave, a line output at 4 volts, and a remote turn-on output let you add amplifiers and a sub without adapters or signal converters. There is also a dedicated subwoofer volume control on the face.

Oversized buttons and LED illumination keep the receiver usable with gloves on, in the dark, or while the trail is throwing dust at you. Frequency response runs 20 Hz to 20 kHz within +/- 1 dB.
