PAD1000.1

The Polk Audio PAD1000.1 is a monoblock amplifier built to run a car subwoofer stage. Its Class D circuit puts out 500 W RMS at 4 ohms, 800 W RMS at 2 ohms, and 1200 W RMS at 1 ohm, so it stays stable whether wired to a single sub or a pair dropped to a 1-ohm load. High-speed MOSFET switching keeps the power supply steady, and the Class D topology runs cooler than conventional designs, which matters in a tight under-seat or trunk install with limited airflow.

Tuning happens on the amplifier itself. The variable low-pass filter (40 Hz to 220 Hz) keeps midrange out of the sub, and the subsonic filter (20 Hz to 38 Hz) blocks frequencies the woofer cannot reproduce, protecting the cone at high volume. Bass boost adds 0 dB to 12 dB at 44 Hz for sealed boxes that need extra weight down low. Level control matches gain to head unit output from 200 mV to 6 V, so factory radios and aftermarket decks both work. Line-level outputs pass a full-range signal to a second amplifier when you add door speakers later, and the included remote subwoofer level control mounts within reach of the front seat.

Build details hold up in daily use. Nickel-plated wire terminals and RCA connectors maintain signal transfer, and stainless steel hardware resists corrosion in humid climates. Thermal, DC offset, reverse polarity, and short circuit protection shut the amp down before damage occurs, with LED power and protection indicators on the chassis. Wiring uses 4 AWG power and ground connections, 12 AWG speaker terminals, and three 40-amp ATC fuses. At 12 15/16" wide and 1 13/16" tall, it fits under a seat, behind a rear seat, or on an amp rack.
