BAMF-124

The BAMF-124 is a 12" car audio subwoofer rated 1,750W RMS and 3,500W max power, built for systems where the bass has to stay strong for hours at a time. A 3" four-layer voice coil wound on an aluminum former with direct-connect lead wire carries the current, high-temperature adhesives resist thermal failure, and a vented T-yoke and vented frame move heat out of the motor before it becomes a problem.

The motor is deliberately oversized for more magnetic strength than a 12" woofer strictly needs. A 12mm T-yoke and top plate improve low-frequency dynamics, and the non-magnetic, non-resonant die-cast aluminum frame keeps the basket from adding noise of its own. The non-transfer spruce pulp cone is treated for UV and chemical protection, the extended-excursion polyether foam surround is stitched and glued at the cone joint, and dual poly-cotton spiders control the moving assembly through violent accelerations.

This version uses dual 4-ohm voice coils, which wire to 2 ohms or 8 ohms per woofer, a useful match for amplifiers that make their rated power at 2 ohms and for pairs of subwoofers sharing one amp. Power Acoustik lists 1.00 cubic feet sealed and 2.00 cubic feet ported, so it works in a compact sealed box for tight, accurate bass or a ported enclosure for more output. Mounting depth is 6.75", and the one-piece gasket and trim ring with concealed mounting holes gives the finished install a clean face.
