Adding a subwoofer lets you hear the low-frequency foundation of a mix instead of guessing at it, which is the difference between a bass part that translates and one that disappears on other systems. The Eris Sub 8BT reaches down to 30 Hz from an 8-inch composite low-frequency driver with 50W RMS of Class AB power and up to 103 dB peak SPL at one meter, so kick weight, sub-bass, and 808 content are all audible. For EDM and hip-hop producers working below 50 Hz, that visibility is the whole point. Although it works with a range of full-range studio monitors, the Sub 8BT was designed to match the voicing and frequency response of Eris and Eris Studio series speakers, so the crossover region sounds like one system rather than two products stacked together. Setup controls are practical: input gain is continuously variable from -30 dB to +6 dB, a continuously variable lowpass filter from 50 Hz to 130 Hz sets where the subwoofer stops, and a defeatable highpass filter removes content below 80 Hz from the signal passed on to the main speakers so their woofers work less. A polarity invert switch handles phase issues from placement. Left and right balanced 1/4-inch TRS and unbalanced RCA main inputs pair with matching pass-through outputs for the satellite speakers. Bluetooth 5.0 adds a stereo wireless input for streaming reference tracks or playlists through the whole system. Protection covers RF interference, output-current limiting, over-temperature, transients, and subsonic content, and Power Saver mode engages after 40 minutes.
