Product Description

The NSB 16.8 moves your inputs and outputs to the stage and connects them to the console over a single Ethernet run. Sixteen locking combo mic/line inputs feed remote-controlled XMAX preamps, and eight locking XLR outputs handle monitor sends, amp feeds, or recording returns. Everything is controlled from a StudioLive Series III console or Universal Control software, including trim and phantom power, so nobody has to walk to the stage to change gain. Gain compensation is the reason multiple mixers can share the same inputs. Onboard DSP lets each mixer on the network adjust preamp level relative to the level set on the main mixer, so a monitor engineer can set their own gain staging without changing the front-of-house mix. Sixteen direct inputs are also available over AVB, for a total of 32x8 AVB (16 direct plus 16 gain-compensated channels). A built-in two-port AVB switch with locking XLR Ethernet jacks allows daisy chaining, so several NSB units can serve one console or several consoles on the same network. The chassis is rugged steel with sturdy handles in a stage box form factor, sized at 16.7 inches wide, 7 inches high, and 4.5 inches deep, so it sits flat on the deck and survives touring. An optional rack-ear kit adapts it for rack installation. XMAX preamps offer 0 dB to +60 dB of gain, 48V phantom power, and a 94 dB signal-to-noise ratio, with 115 dB of digital dynamic range at 48 kHz.

Features

    • One Cable to the Stage

Sixteen inputs and eight outputs travel to the console over a single Ethernet run, replacing a heavy analog snake and speeding up load-in.

    • Set Gain From the Console

Remote-controlled XMAX preamps with 0 dB to +60 dB of gain and switchable phantom power are adjusted from a StudioLive Series III mixer or Universal Control.

    • Share Inputs Without a Fight

Onboard DSP provides gain compensation, so monitor world and front of house each set their own levels without changing the other engineer’s mix.

    • Expand by Chaining

A built-in two-port AVB switch with locking Ethernet jacks lets you daisy-chain more NSB units to grow channel count on one network.

    • Built for the Road

A rugged steel chassis with sturdy handles sits flat on the deck, and an optional rack-ear kit adapts it for permanent rack installs.
