Product Description

The SALT-4 is a linkable Class D monoblock rated at 4000W x 1 at 1 ohm, 2000W x 1 at 2 ohms, and 1000W x 1 at 4 ohms. Link two of them and the pair produces 8000W x 1 at 2 ohms, so a single-amp build today can become a two-amp build later without starting over.

SALT stands for Sundown Audio Low-Voltage Technology. Instead of quoting output at voltages most vehicles never see, Sundown tests at 12.8V with less than 1 percent THD. Operating range is 9V to 15.5V and efficiency is above 90 percent, so current draw stays reasonable for the output. Plan on a 400A fuse and wiring to match.

Filters are steeper than the usual 12dB designs: a 24dB variable subsonic filter from 10 Hz to 50 Hz and a 24dB variable low pass filter from 35 Hz to 250 Hz. Variable bass boost at 45 Hz adds up to 9 dB and phase shift control spans 0 to 180 degrees. Frequency response runs 10 Hz to 250 Hz, signal to noise ratio is above 90 dB, and damping factor is above 400 for tight cone control.

Protection circuitry covers thermal, voltage, speaker short, and DC-offset faults, with power, clipping, and protection indicators. The included wired remote displays voltage, temperature, and clipping, which is exactly what you want to watch on a system at this power level.
