Scarlett 18i20 gives a project studio the input count of a small console in a single desktop unit: 18 inputs and 20 outputs, including eight 4th-generation mic preamps with 69dB of gain, two Hi-Z guitar inputs, and eight line inputs for keeping outboard gear patched in. The same 24-bit, 192kHz converters used in Focusrite's flagship RedNet range deliver 122dB of dynamic range, so everything from a whispered vocal to a full drum kit comes through clean.

Auto Gain sets usable levels on multiple mics in seconds, and Clip Safe checks input levels up to 96,000 times a second to catch clipping before it ruins a take, both useful when running a session solo or tracking a full band at once. Air mode adds the presence and harmonic character of a classic studio console to vocals and acoustic guitars, and two custom headphone amps with A/B speaker switching cover monitoring for engineer and artist independently. Focusrite Control 2 handles routing and monitor mixes from a desktop or mobile app, so preamp gain and levels can be adjusted remotely from the live room. The interface ships with Ableton Live Lite, a three-month Pro Tools Artist subscription, and the full Hitmaker Expansion software bundle for recording, mixing, and final polish.
