Se Electronics BL8 Omni-Directional Boundary Microphone Piano/Conference Mic

The BL8 omni is a low-profile boundary microphone built to sit flat on a surface and pick up sound from every direction around it. Its hand-crafted 1/2 in. true-condenser capsule, the same sE8 omni capsule used across the sE small-diaphragm line, covers 20 Hz to 20 kHz with 50 mV/Pa sensitivity and a 14 dB(A) noise floor, so quiet detail comes through clearly. Transformerless Class-A circuitry leaves headroom to spare: with the pad set to 20 dB the mic handles up to 163 dB SPL without distortion. That range makes it as comfortable inside the lid of a grand piano as it is taped to a stage lip for footwork and ambience.

A character switch moves the voicing between classic and modern. The switchable low-cut filter at 80 or 160 Hz trims HVAC rumble and foot traffic in conference rooms, and the 10/20 dB pad keeps loud sources under control. Both switches sit on the mic body, so setup changes take seconds.

The die-cast housing stands up to touring and permanent installs alike, and the gold-plated 3-pin XLR connector keeps the signal path clean over long cable runs. Powering is standard 48 V phantom at 5.0 mA, so it works with any mixer or interface.

At 5.47 x 3.74 x 1.12 in. and 538 g, the BL8 omni stays out of sight lines, which suits boardroom video calls, lectern and altar coverage, theatre stage pickup, drum kit ambience, and room capture in the studio. A protective pouch is included.
