Product Description
At its core is a hand-tensioned 2.5 micron aluminum ribbon. Thin, light and quick, it reads transients accurately while retaining the natural low-mid warmth ribbons are known for. Sensitivity of 25 mV/Pa and 137 dB max SPL cover both quiet acoustic passages and loud sources up close, with 17 dB(A) self-noise and a 77 dB signal-to-noise ratio keeping the noise floor low.
The figure-8 pattern rejects sound from the sides, which is useful for isolating one source in a shared room, tracking two singers face to face, or controlling room tone by rotating the null. A 100 Hz bass-cut filter tames proximity buildup on close-miked vocals and guitar cabs.
Typical use covers lead vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar cabs, orchestral strings, piano, woodwinds, brass, drum kit, overheads and room. Precision-machined scalloped edges, gold-plated XLR connectors and an included custom shock mount, wooden box and metal case complete the package.
Features
-
Full-Range Ribbon Sound
A 20 Hz to 20 kHz response gives you ribbon warmth without the rolled-off top end, so cymbals and strings keep their air and detail.
-
Strong Output, Less Gain Hunting
Active circuitry and 25 mV/Pa sensitivity mean your preamp does not have to work overtime, keeping hiss out of quiet acoustic tracks.
-
Twin Rupert Neve Transformers
Two custom-designed transformers shape the low end and hold the frequency response together, giving the mic weight and balance on any source.
-
Loud Cabs, No Problem
Max SPL of 137 dB lets you put the ribbon right against a guitar cab or in front of a brass section without breaking up.
-
Control Proximity Buildup
A switchable 100 Hz bass-cut filter trims low-end buildup on close-miked vocals and cabs, so tracks sit in the mix without heavy EQ.
