sE4400

The sE4400 is a large-diaphragm condenser with four switchable pickup patterns: cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional and figure-8. That range covers most of what a studio or touring rig asks of a single microphone, from a focused lead vocal to open room capture to rejecting a monitor wedge by pointing a null at it.

At its center is a hand-crafted 1" gold-sputtered true condenser capsule, individually tuned in the sE factory, delivering the warm vintage character the 4400 line is known for. Max SPL reaches 157 dB with the -20 dB pad, and switchable 40 and 80 Hz bass-cut filters trim low-end buildup on close-miked sources.

Construction is aimed squarely at day-to-day tour life: die-cast all-metal housing, metal switches and a spring steel wire mesh grille that survives handling a plastic-bodied mic would not. Discrete electronics keep the feature set focused on what actually gets used.

At 290 g and 146 mm long, the body slips into positions larger condensers cannot reach, and the close-miking shockmount helps you get it right up on a source. Recommended for lead vocals, orchestral strings, drums and overheads, electric guitar cabs, piano, acoustic guitar, woodwinds and brass. Shockmount, thread adapter and metal case are included.
