sE7 sideFire

The sE7 sideFire takes the sE7 pencil condenser and rotates the capsule 90 degrees, so the mic picks up from the side rather than the end. That one change solves a recurring problem: getting a small-diaphragm condenser into a tight space where there is no room for the body to point straight at the source. Under a hi-hat, inside a drum kit, beneath a piano lid or up against a cabinet, the sideFire fits where an end-firing pencil mic cannot.

Everything behind the capsule matches the sE7. A 1/2" back-electret condenser element with optimized acoustics, discrete Class-A circuitry and a transformerless output keeps response clear and natural from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Ultra low-noise components hold self-noise to 16 dB with a 78 dB signal-to-noise ratio.

The switchable -20 dB pad takes max SPL to 156 dB for close placement on loud sources, and the switchable 80 Hz low-cut filter removes stage rumble and nearby kick bleed.

The body measures 23 mm across and 130 mm long and weighs 163 g. Recommended for acoustic guitar, choir, orchestral strings, piano, woodwinds, drums, percussion and overheads. A mic clip with thread adapter and wind screen are included.
