V7 CHROME

The V7 CHROME is a handheld dynamic vocal microphone with a supercardioid pickup pattern, in a chrome-plated finish. It captures a voice with a crisp, open character and keeps the low-mid weight that puts a lead vocal in front of a band instead of behind it.

The tight supercardioid pattern is why it holds up on loud stages. It rejects sound arriving from the sides and rear, which means more gain before feedback and less bleed from wedges, drums, and nearby amps. Off-axis response stays natural, so the tone does not collapse when a singer drifts away from center.

Inside, a specialized aluminum voice coil and neodymium magnet give 2.0 mV/Pa sensitivity across a 40 Hz to 19 kHz range, with detail at the top that stays clear of harshness. A patented integrated shockmount separates the capsule from the housing, so handling noise, cable thumps, and footfall rumble drop far enough to ignore. A spare red internal windscreen ships in the box, so you have a fresh pop filter behind the grille when the first one has seen enough shows.

The housing is all metal with a beveled spring steel grille that resists dents and corrosion, and the beveled edge keeps the mic from rolling off an amp cabinet or the stage floor. A 3-pin male XLR connector and 300 ohm output work with any standard mic preamp.

The chrome plating gives the mic a mirror finish that reads well under stage lights and in photos, which is worth considering for a front-of-stage vocalist or a mic that shows up in press shots. Practical uses cover lead vocals, speech, broadcasting, podcasting, an electric guitar cab, and drums. At 296 g (10.44 oz) it balances well in the hand across a full set.
