The SALT-1.5 is a linkable Class D monoblock rated at 1500W x 1 at 1 ohm, 750W x 1 at 2 ohms, and 400W x 1 at 4 ohms. Link two of them and the pair produces 3000W x 1 at 2 ohms, so you can start with one amp and expand later without replacing it.

SALT stands for Sundown Audio Low-Voltage Technology, and it addresses a real problem: many high-power amplifiers only reach their rating at 14V or more. This one is tested at 12.8V with less than 1 percent THD, meaning the output you see on paper is the output you get from a normal electrical system. Operating range runs from 9V to 15.5V.

Filters are steeper than typical. The 24dB variable subsonic filter covers 10 Hz to 50 Hz and the 24dB variable low pass filter covers 35 Hz to 250 Hz, giving sharper cutoffs for competition-style tuning. Variable bass boost at 45 Hz adds up to 9 dB, and phase shift control spans 0 to 180 degrees. Efficiency is above 90 percent, signal to noise ratio above 90 dB, and damping factor above 400.

Protection circuitry covers thermal, voltage, speaker short, and DC-offset conditions, with power, clipping, and protection indicators. The included wired remote displays voltage, temperature, and clipping, so you can watch the electrical system while you listen.
