U-10 V.2 D2

The U-10 V.2 D2 is a 10-inch subwoofer rated 2000W RMS and 4000W peak, and it is the standard-suspension member of the Sundown lineup: at home in a competition lane and just as comfortable playing music on the way to work.

A double-stacked 9.4-inch wide ferrite magnet system sits against a thick top plate, and heavy shorting rings inside the magnets and on the pole cap even out frequency response while doubling as a heat sink and airflow guide. An extended pole piece keeps the 3" aluminum voice coil former under control at high stress, with travel rated at 30mm Xmax. Coil temperature is managed by a solid pole with machined vent channels, 16 direct air-gap vents in the back plate, and top-plate cooling channels, so a long set at high power does not cook the windings.

The frame is a heavy-duty cast aluminum basket with heat-dissipation ribs to hold the motor square under load. The surround is double stitched, tinsel leads are stitched on to resist fatigue, and spring-loaded terminals accept wire up to 8 gauge, which matters when you are pushing this much current.

It is optimized for small ported enclosures: 1.0 cu ft with 16 sq in of port area tuned to 35Hz. A 0.5 cu ft sealed box works when space is tight, and fourth-order figures are published as a 0.4 cu ft sealed side with a 1.2 cu ft ported side, 24 sq in of port area, and a 6" port length. Mounting depth is 7.007" with a 9.17" cutout, and displacement is 0.18 cu ft.

Dual 2-ohm coils wire to a 1-ohm or 4-ohm load, so matching an amplifier is straightforward in single-woofer or multi-woofer builds.
