ZV6-12 D1

The ZV6-12 D1 is a 12-inch ultra-high-excursion subwoofer rated 3250W RMS and 6500W peak, sitting one step above the X v.3 series and replacing the Z v.5. Xmax is 35mm one-way measured at 70 percent BL, and the motor has enough clearance for over four inches of peak-to-peak travel before mechanical bottom.

That motor is a quad-stacked 240mm structure with a 100mm total magnet stack and a hyper-extended pole. Both the top and back plates are thicker than the X v.3, and the top plate is another 5mm thicker than the outgoing Z v.5, which adds magnetic strength and excursion potential. It moves a 3" black aluminum 8-layer flat wire voice coil, an upgrade from the 4-layer coil in the v.5 that raises motor force and output.

Cooling comes from a high-velocity pole vent, a heavily vented magnetic gap, and machined channels in four places around the pole piece, plus a cast-aluminum vented frame spacer ring. The patented custom-tooled basket, Mega-Roll v.2 surround, ultra-linear spider packs, large aluminum Faraday ring, and stitched-on XL tinsel leads round out the build.

The Z v.6 targets the lowest bass extension possible from a small ported box while keeping distortion low. Recommended volume is 2.5 cu ft with 38 sq in of port area tuned to 32Hz, and it will also work in an enclosure up to 50 percent larger for more extension. A sealed box is not recommended. Mounting depth is 11.75" with a 11.09" cutout, and dual 1-ohm coils wire to a 0.5-ohm or 2-ohm load.
