Product Description

BeatStep is a compact controller and step sequencer that covers two jobs in one small chassis. In control mode, 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads trigger clips in a DAW, play drum parts, or send program and bank changes, while 16 assignable encoders send MIDI CC or NRPN/RPN data to software and hardware.

In sequencer mode, the pads become step toggles and the encoders set pitch per step. Sixteen memories recall your patterns instantly, and pad scale modes, playback direction, and time division change during a performance, so a pattern evolves without stopping the music. It can send MIDI clock or follow an external clock.

Connectivity is where BeatStep earns its place in a small setup. USB links it to a computer or an iPad through a camera connection kit, MIDI connects drum modules and keyboards, and CV/Gate outputs connect straight to analog synthesizers. That means one unit sequences a modular rig, plays a hardware drum machine, and controls a DAW project in the same session.

Transport buttons send MMC commands or MIDI CC to start and stop a DAW, and 16 user presets store your control layouts for different rigs. A Kensington lock port secures it in a shared studio or on a festival stage. At this size it travels in a backpack, which makes it a practical writing tool on the road and a permanent fixture on a crowded desk.

Features

    • Two Tools In One

Control mode turns the 16 pads and encoders into a DAW surface, and sequencer mode turns the same hardware into a 16-step analog sequencer.

    • Pads That Read Your Touch

Sixteen velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads capture dynamic finger-drumming, so programmed parts keep the feel of a played performance rather than a grid.

    • Plays With Any Gear

USB, MIDI, and CV/Gate outputs connect computers, iPads, drum modules, and analog synthesizers, letting one small unit sit at the center of a mixed rig.

    • Change Patterns Live

Scale modes, playback direction, and time division all shift during performance, and 16 memories recall favorite patterns without pausing the sequence.

    • Fits Where Space Is Tight

The compact chassis travels in a backpack and takes little desk space, so it works as a writing tool on the road and a fixture at home.
