Product Description
Low-noise, symmetrical, transformerless circuitry gives it fast transient response and a clean output signal. The 2-micron vapor-deposited gold diaphragm goes through a five-step aging process so its characteristics stay put over years of use, and the precision-machined nickel-plated brass baffle keeps the element stable and sensitive.
The 80 Hz high-pass filter switches between flat response and a low-end roll-off that trims ambient noise and softens plosive energy on close-miked vocals. A 10 dB pad extends maximum input to 155 dB SPL. Frequency response runs 30-20,000 Hz with a 128 dB dynamic range and 100 ohm impedance.
A floating-construction capsule assembly isolates the element from noise and vibration, and the symmetrical open housing reduces internal reflections that would otherwise color the sound.
Use it for lead vocals, voiceover, acoustic guitar, upright bass, mandolin, and room capture. It requires 48V phantom power and includes the AT8449a shock mount, a dust cover, and a protective carrying case.
Features
-
Presence That Sits Up Front
A cardioid capsule with a forward voicing places vocals and acoustic sources at the front of a mix, often with less corrective equalization afterward.
-
Clean Signal, Fast Response
Symmetrical transformerless circuitry cuts low-frequency distortion and tracks high-speed transients, so plucked strings and hard consonants arrive intact.
-
A Diaphragm Built to Stay Put
The 2-micron gold-vapor diaphragm goes through a five-step aging process, holding its acoustic characteristics steady across years of daily studio use.
-
Adapt to the Source
An 80 Hz high-pass filter trims ambient rumble and plosive energy on close vocals, while the 10 dB pad extends maximum input to 155 dB SPL.
-
Isolation In and Out of the Box
A floating capsule assembly plus the included AT8449a shock mount keep stand and floor vibration out of the signal on any standard studio stand.
