Audio Technica AT875R Short Shotgun Condenser Microphone w/ Line+Gradient DV Mic

The AT875R is a short shotgun condenser microphone for video production and broadcast field audio. At under 7 inches long it mounts to a DV camcorder or compact digital camera without adding meaningful weight or intruding into a wide shot.

Line + gradient design gives it a narrow acceptance angle. Pointed at a subject from several feet away, it picks up dialogue while rejecting sound arriving from the sides and rear, which is what separates usable location audio from a recording full of traffic, crew movement, and room reflection.

On-axis response is natural rather than colored, so dialogue does not need heavy correction in post. Response runs 90-20,000 Hz, deliberately rolling off below 90 Hz to reduce handling and camera noise that would otherwise sit under every take.

Maximum input is 127 dB SPL with a 107 dB dynamic range and 100 ohm impedance. It runs on 11-52V DC phantom power only, supplied by a camera, field recorder, or mixer.

At 2.8 oz it works on a camera shoe mount, a boom pole for interviews, or a stand for voiceover. The included AT8405a clamp fits standard threaded stands, with a thread adapter, plus a windscreen and soft pouch.
