Audio-Technica ATH-R30x Professional Open-Back Over-Ear Reference Headphones

The ATH-R30x is an open-back reference headphone built for critical listening in home studios and small production rooms. Its 40 mm drivers sit behind open earcups with little added tuning or damping, so you hear what the recording actually contains: defined lows, clear mids, and extended highs across a 15 to 25,000 Hz range.

The open-back design produces a wide, realistic soundstage closer to a speaker monitor system, which makes panning, depth, and level decisions easier to judge while mixing and mastering. Closed-back models isolate better in loud rooms; the R30x trades that isolation for spatial accuracy and cooler earcups on long sessions.

At 210 g, the headphones stay comfortable for hours. The adjustable headband finds a custom fit, and the replaceable velour earpads can be swapped when they wear rather than retiring the whole set. With 36 ohms impedance and 92 dB sensitivity, the R30x reaches full volume from an audio interface, mixer headphone output, or laptop with no separate amplifier, and 1,000 mW maximum input power leaves headroom to spare.

A 6.3 mm (1/4") adapter is included, so the same pair works for tracking and mix reviews in the studio, podcast and video editing, and detailed everyday listening at a desk.
