The Audio-Technica PRO 37 is a small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone for studio recording and live sound. Its low-mass element responds fast enough to track the transients that define acoustic sources, which is why it lands so often on acoustic guitar, drum overheads, piano, and group vocals.

Frequency response runs 30 to 15,000 Hz, reaching low enough to hold the body of a guitar or a piano's lower register while keeping cymbals and string detail on top. The cardioid pattern rejects sound arriving from the sides and rear, tightening isolation when you have a singer and a guitar in the same room or a stage with monitors in front of the kit.

A slim, low-profile body places the capsule where a larger mic cannot go, such as under a hi-hat, inside a piano lid, or tight to a guitar's twelfth fret. Maximum input sits at 141 dB SPL at 1% THD, so it stays clean as an overhead over a hard-hitting drummer, and the 65 dB signal-to-noise ratio keeps quiet fingerpicking free of hiss.

Build quality matches the working life of a studio and a road case. A gold-plated 3-pin XLRM-type connector resists corrosion at the one point that fails first, and the housing is made to take repeated setup. The mic runs on 11-52V phantom power and ships with an AT8405a stand clamp, a 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 thread adapter, an AT8159 windscreen, and a soft protective pouch.
