SM46CX

The Autotek SM46CX is a pair of 4 x 6 inch 2-way coaxial car speakers made to replace the factory units in dash and rear deck openings that use this common oval size. Each speaker handles 125W RMS and 250W peak at 4 ohms, a real step up from the paper-cone speakers most vehicles leave the factory with.

A 1-inch Neo Mylar soft dome tweeter delivers clear highs while handling power without going harsh, and Alpha-Cellulose poly cones produce musical midrange and upper bass while staying light enough to respond quickly. A passive Butterworth crossover with a 6dB internal network transitions from cone to tweeter at 6kHz so the sound stays cohesive.

The UV resistant rubber surround shrugs off sun and moisture, which matters in a dash location under a windshield. High temperature adhesive keeps the cone and surround together under high power, a pure copper voice coil on a Kapton former dissipates heat, and the anti-resonant stamped steel basket keeps frame flex and ringing out of the sound.

Mounting specs are a 5.5 x 3.46 inch cut-out with a 5.94 x 3.84 inch outside diameter and 3.5-inch depth, so check clearance behind the panel before ordering. Frequency response runs 60Hz to 20kHz at 88dB sensitivity. Grilles are not included, since 4 x 6 speakers usually install behind an OEM panel. Use spade connectors or solder directly.
