SSL Soundstorm ML43B

The SSL Soundstorm ML43B is a single-DIN car stereo built around digital media instead of discs. With no CD or DVD mechanism taking up space, the chassis is given over to playback from Bluetooth, USB storage, SD cards up to 32 GB, and a front aux input that accepts the 3.5mm output of an MP3 player or phone. MP3 and WMA files play from any of those sources, and ID3 tag data shows title, artist, album, and track number on the display.

Bluetooth handles both sides of phone use. A2DP audio streaming plays music apps wirelessly from a paired phone, and hands-free calling through the built-in microphone routes the conversation to the car speakers, so a work call on the road stays legal and audible.

Power is rated at 50W x 4 max for 200W total, with balance, fader, bass, and treble adjustments plus preset EQ curves for styles like rock and pop. Front and rear pre-amp outputs allow up to two amplifiers or signal processors to be added, which makes this a reasonable starting point for a system that will grow. A 1A USB charger keeps a connected phone topped off during longer trips.

The AM/FM tuner switches between US and European frequencies and stores 18 FM and 12 AM presets. Last position memory picks up where playback stopped after the ignition cycles. A wireless remote control is included for passenger-seat or rear-seat access to track, volume, and source functions.
