XLS1002

The Crown XLS1002 is a two-channel Class D power amplifier with onboard DSP that weighs 8.6 lb and stands 3.5" tall in a 19" rack. It produces 350 W per channel at 4 ohms, 215 W per channel at 8 ohms, 550 W per channel at 2 ohms, and 1100 W bridged into 4 ohms, so one unit can run mains for a small room or handle a subwoofer on its own.

DriveCore technology is what keeps the weight down. The output stage runs efficiently, which means less heat, a smaller chassis, and an amplifier one person can carry in each hand. For a mobile DJ or a band loading in three nights a week, that difference adds up fast.

Processing is built in. The PureBand Crossover System splits highs and lows without a rack processor, a band pass filter is available per channel, and Peakx limiters hold maximum output while protecting the speakers. Input sensitivity switches between 1.4Vrms and 0.775Vrms so the amplifier reaches full power from a range of sources, and XLR, 1/4", and RCA inputs connect to almost any mixer or controller.

Practical touches show up in the menu. LED indicators other than clip and thermal can be turned off for dark venues, sleep mode engages after a set idle period, a security setting locks the menu buttons behind a combination, and system reset restores factory settings. A remote power trigger ties the amplifier into a rack power sequence.

Signal-to-noise ratio is > 97 dB, THD stays under 0.5%, damping factor is above 200, and crosstalk is better than 85 dB at 1 kHz. Forced-air fans keep thermal buildup in check through long sets.
