CS65C

The Crunch CS65C is a 6.5-inch component speaker system rated at 150W RMS and 300W peak. Unlike a coaxial, the tweeter separates from the woofer, so you can mount it high on a sail panel, A-pillar, or dash while the woofer stays in the factory door location. Getting the tweeter closer to ear level raises the sound stage out of the footwell, which is the single biggest change most drivers notice when moving to components.

An external 12dB crossover network with premium capacitors splits the signal at 2kHz, a lower and more precise hand-off than the internal networks used in coaxial speakers. That keeps the woofer out of the range where it starts to beam and lets the 1-inch Neo-Mylar soft dome tweeter handle the top end on its own. Response runs 55Hz to 20kHz at 88dB sensitivity.

The woofer uses a silver alpha-cellulose poly cone on an anti-resonant stamped steel basket, with a UV-resistant rubber surround and high-temperature adhesive at the cone-to-surround joint. A pure copper voice coil on a Kapton former with over-coil cooling keeps heat in check during long, loud playback.

Several tweeter mounting options are included, covering flush, surface, and angled placement so you can aim the highs where you sit. Woofer cut-out is 5.59 in with a 7.01 in outside diameter and 2.12 in mounting depth, shallow enough for most door skins. Spade connectors handle the wiring, or you can solder direct.
