Product Description

This JBL package puts a complete background music and paging system into one order: a CSMA240 commercial mixer amplifier and fourteen CSS8008 8" ceiling speakers, sized for large restaurants, bars, retail floors, and open offices that need even coverage from front to back. The CSMA240 puts out 40W per channel across two output channels and connects directly to 70V or 100V distributed speaker lines through its built-in output transformer, so there is no separate transformer to buy or wire. Each CSS8008 has selectable 5W, 2.5W, 1.3W, and 0.7W taps on 70V. Split the fourteen speakers into two zones of seven at the 2.5W tap and each channel carries 17.5W, well under the 32W per channel limit recommended for this amp, with headroom left over.

Eight mixer inputs take mic and line sources on euroblock connectors plus unbalanced RCA, and 27V phantom power runs condenser paging mics. Voice activated ducking on channels 1 and 5 lowers the music when someone speaks, and priority muting silences the other inputs for announcements. Illuminated volume rings stay readable in a dim dining room, each output channel has its own bass and treble, and RJ45 ports accept JBL CSR-V in-wall volume controls (sold separately). Sleep mode powers the amp down after about 30 minutes without signal and wakes it when audio returns.

Overhead, every CSS8008 pairs an 8" dual-cone driver with 96 dB sensitivity and 120° coverage, holding a solid listening level at low tap settings across 55 Hz to 16 kHz. An 8.5" open-back cutout and just 2.8" of depth behind the grille let the speakers fit standard drop ceilings in dining rooms, showrooms, and waiting areas.

Features

    • One Amp, Two Zones

The CSMA240 sends 40W to each of its two output channels, so seven speakers per zone can cover a dining room and a bar with separate volume, bass, and treble.

    • No Separate Transformer Needed

A built-in output transformer, switched in with the Hi-Z setting, connects the amp straight to 70V or 100V distributed speaker lines across large floor plans.

    • Paging That Cuts Through

Voice activated ducking on channels 1 and 5 lowers background music when staff speak, and priority muting silences the other inputs for clear announcements.

    • Coverage for Large Floor Plans

Fourteen 8" dual-cone CSS8008 speakers with 96 dB sensitivity and 120° dispersion fill large spaces at low tap settings, covering 55 Hz to 16 kHz.

    • Simple Daily Operation

Illuminated volume rings are easy to read in dim rooms, and sleep mode powers the amp down after about 30 minutes without an audio signal.
