Product Description

The dbx 234S is a dual-channel crossover that splits your audio signal and routes only the right frequency bands to each speaker driver, so your amplifiers spend their power on usable signal instead of frequencies the driver can't reproduce cleanly. It switches between stereo 2-way or 3-way operation and mono 4-way operation, giving you one box that adapts to a straightforward two-way PA or a more complex biamped or triamped rig. Linkwitz-Riley 24dB per octave filters, the industry standard for phase-coherent crossover points, keep the transition between drivers even and free of comb-filtering artifacts. Independent output level controls let you match gain across drivers, phase reverse switches on every output correct polarity issues between horns and woofers, and a 40Hz low-cut filter on both channels removes subsonic energy that would otherwise waste amplifier headroom. An optional mono-summed subwoofer output pulls the low end from both channels into a single feed for a dedicated sub amp. Balanced 1/4-inch TRS inputs and outputs and solid, tactile controls reflect four decades of dbx's experience building processors for touring and installed sound. Status LEDs make it easy to confirm you're in stereo or mono mode at a glance, even across a dim stage or a rack room with limited visibility.

Features

    • One Crossover, Multiple Configurations

Switchable stereo 2-way, 3-way, or mono 4-way operation lets a single unit adapt from a simple PA to a fully biamped or triamped rig.

    • Phase-Coherent Crossover Points

Linkwitz-Riley 24dB per octave filters keep the handoff between drivers even, avoiding the comb-filtering that cheaper crossover designs introduce.

    • Cleaner Amplifier Power

The 40Hz low-cut filter on both channels strips out subsonic energy so your amps spend their headroom on usable, audible signal.

    • Precise Driver Matching

Independent level controls and phase reverse switches on every output let you correct polarity and balance gain between horns and woofers.

    • Dedicated Subwoofer Feed

An optional mono-summed low-frequency output combines both channels into a single feed for a dedicated subwoofer amplifier.
