ZonePRO 640 6-In / 4-Out Digital Zone Processor

The dbx ZonePRO 640 handles routing, processing, and zone control for commercial audio: restaurants, retail floors, houses of worship, gyms, and any venue where separate areas need different sources at different levels. Six inputs cover two switchable mic/line channels on Euroblock plus four RCA source inputs, so a paging mic, a music player, and a house feed all land in one box. Four Euroblock outputs run to the amplifiers feeding each zone.

Every input has gain control and EQ. The mic channels add processing built for paging: gating, de-essing, automatic gain control, compression, and Advanced Feedback Suppression, so an announcement stays intelligible when the speaker leans into the mic or stands two feet back. The routing module handles primary source selection per zone, source ducking that drops the music automatically when a page comes in, and priority override for announcements that must cut through.

Each output carries EQ, bandpass and crossover filters, limiting, and delay for time-aligning distributed ceiling speakers. The patent-pending AutoWarmth function restores natural low-frequency content at low listening levels, so background music keeps its body at dinner volume.

Control works several ways. Wall panel Zone Controllers give staff source selection and volume without access to system settings. A built-in Real Time Clock triggers programmed changes through the day or week, so opening, lunch rush, and evening presets happen on their own. ZonePRO Designer software covers configuration and monitoring with a setup wizard for the initial install, and RS-232 ties the 640 into a larger control system.

Conversion uses dbx Type IV with dynamic range above 109 dB A-weighted. The 1U chassis weighs 6.8 lb.
