Product Description

Scarlett 16i16 is a 16-in/16-out USB-C audio interface for project studios that have outgrown a two-channel box. Two 4th Generation preamps carry 69 dB of gain, enough for ribbon and dynamic mics without an inline booster, while six line inputs keep outboard compressors, synths and preamps patched in permanently. Conversion comes from the same 24-bit/192 kHz design used in Focusrite's RedNet range, with 122 dB of dynamic range so a whispered vocal and a loud amp both land cleanly. Air mode adds console-style presence or harmonic colour to vocals and acoustic sources as you record. Auto Gain sets usable levels across several mics in seconds, and Clip Safe checks input levels up to 96,000 times a second, pulling gain back before a peak ruins a take. Two custom headphone amps let an engineer and an artist monitor separately, with the power to run high-impedance headphones. A/B speaker switching makes referencing a mix on a second monitor pair a one-button move, and dynamic metering shows input and output levels on the hardware. ADAT, S/PDIF and MIDI in and out cover expansion and hardware sync, and Loopback pulls computer audio straight into a session for sampling or streaming. Focusrite Control 2 manages routing and monitor mixes from a desktop app or an iOS or Android phone, so you can set gain from the live room. It runs on USB-C bus power, with an external supply included.

Features

    • Gain For Any Microphone

The 4th Generation preamps offer 69 dB of gain, so quiet ribbon and dynamic mics reach a usable level without adding an inline booster.

    • Studio Conversion Throughout

24-bit/192 kHz converters taken from the RedNet range give 122 dB of dynamic range, capturing a whispered vocal and a loud amp with equal clarity.

    • Levels Set In Seconds

Auto Gain finds a usable level for every connected mic in a few seconds, so a multi-mic session is ready to record almost immediately.

    • Never Lose A Take

Clip Safe checks input levels up to 96,000 times a second and trims gain before a peak clips, protecting one-off takes at live shows.

    • Two People, Two Mixes

Two custom headphone amps run high-impedance headphones with room to spare, letting the engineer and the artist monitor independently.
