ZS46CX

The Hifonics ZS46CX is a pair of 4x6 inch 2-way coaxial speakers made for the oval factory openings found in dashes and rear decks across a wide range of vehicles. Each speaker handles 40W RMS and 200W peak, for 80W RMS and 400W peak per pair, at 4 ohms.

Response runs 55Hz to 19kHz with 88 dB sensitivity, so they work well off head unit power and step up further with 40W of amplifier power per channel. The lower end of that range gives real midbass, which is where most 4x6 factory speakers give up first.

Each speaker pairs an alpha-cellulose cone with a moisture resistant rubber surround for midbass impact, a pure copper voice coil on a Kapton former for heat dissipation, and an epoxy infused natural fiber spider. Overcoil cooling exchanges air across the voice coil through the spider under sustained power. The 1 inch neo-Mylar soft dome tweeter is impact resistant and crosses over at 6kHz through a passive Butterworth network at 12dB per octave for an even handoff between the two.

An anti-resonant stamped steel basket minimizes flex and ringing, and a ferrite motor keeps the magnet compact. Cutout is 5.5 x 3.46 in with an outside diameter of 5.94 x 3.84 in and 3 in of mounting depth, so check clearance behind rear deck and dash panels before ordering. Spade connectors or direct solder handle wiring. No grills are included; typical installation mounts these behind a factory panel or dash cover.
