The JBL AWC159 is a compact, weather-resistant two-way coaxial loudspeaker for spaces that see rain, salt air, and direct sun. A 15" woofer with a Kevlar-reinforced, weather-treated cone and 75 mm (3 in) voice coil sits behind a 38 mm (1.5 in) diaphragm compression driver with high temperature annular polymer diaphragm, both on a single axis, so coverage of 90 degrees stays consistent and speech stays intelligible from anywhere in the pattern.

An IP56 rating covers dust ingress and water jets, and the cabinet exceeds Mil Spec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV exposure, plus ASTM G85 acid-air and salt-spray testing over 336 hours. In practice that means poolside, dockside, and stadium concourse installs hold up for years rather than seasons.

Wiring is flexible. A built-in transformer offers taps of 70V: 300W, 150W, 75W, 38W; 100V: 300W, 150W, 75W or direct 8 ohm low-impedance operation, so the same speaker works on a long distributed line or on a dedicated amplifier channel. Power handling is 500 W (2000 W peak) for 2 hours and 300 W (1200 W peak) over 100 hours, with 98 dB sensitivity producing 125 dB maximum SPL at 1 m in direct mode. Frequency range spans 52 Hz - 20 kHz at -10 dB.

A high-slope passive crossover at 1.5 kHz keeps midrange natural through the transition, and SonicGuard overload protection limits the high-frequency driver before damage occurs. The ABS with glass enclosure is heavily braced, the corrosion-resistant steel grille uses a three-layer foam and poly mesh assembly, and terminals sit under a covered barrier strip with a gland nut that seals against round-jacketed cable. A color-matched steel U-bracket ships with every unit. Each cabinet measures 19.1 x 19.1 x 18.8 in and weighs 45.5 lb.
