The JBL Control 2P is a pair of powered compact monitors that handles reference listening in rooms where a full studio setup is overkill. Each cabinet carries a 135 mm (5.25 in) low-frequency driver and a 19 mm (0.75 in) polycarbonate dome tweeter crossed at 4.2 kHz, covering 80 Hz to 20 kHz with 120 x 120 degree coverage. Amplification is built in at 35 W per channel, producing 115 dB maximum SPL per pair.

Input options make the pair easy to drop into an existing chain. Balanced Neutrik combo connectors accept XLR or 1/4 in TRS at +4 dBu, and unbalanced RCA at 0 dBu handles consumer sources, so an interface, a mixer, and a media player can all reach these speakers. A side-mounted volume control adjusts both cabinets at once rather than forcing you to match two knobs, and a high-frequency adjust control contours treble to the room or the task.

A stereo headphone jack allows private monitoring without unplugging anything. An internal peak limiter and overload protection circuit guard the system against damage from sustained over-driving, which matters in installations where the user is not the person who set it up.

Snap-on pedestals ship in the box and tilt each cabinet toward ear height on a desk. Wall mounting is available through the optional MTC-2P kit. Transducers are magnetically shielded for placement near sensitive equipment.
