JBL CBT 70JE-1-WH White 500w Extension For CBT 70J-1 Line Array Column Speaker

The JBL CBT 70JE-1 is the low-frequency extension made for the CBT 70J-1 column. It mounts to the top of the array with the included coupler plate, forming a progressive line array with asymmetrical vertical coverage that concentrates sound toward the far areas of a room.

Inside the fiberglass-reinforced ABS enclosure are four low-frequency drivers and a dedicated crossover network. Power handling is 500 W, and high sensitivity means the extension adds real output rather than just filling in the bottom octave. Bass response reaches down to 45 Hz, which gives music program the weight that a speech-focused column cannot produce alone.

The bigger gain is pattern control. Adding the extension lengthens the array, pushing directivity control down to 400 Hz for plus or minus 20 degree control and to 200 Hz for substantial off-axis cancellation. In practice that means less energy hitting the ceiling and rear wall, and better intelligibility in rooms with hard surfaces.

Combined with the CBT 70J-1, the system keeps Constant Beamwidth Technology behavior across the full range, so pattern consistency does not break at the crossover. Voicing stays switchable between flat music response and a mid-range presence peak for speech.

Typical installations include auditoriums, lecture halls, stadiums, theme parks, houses of worship, and multipurpose rooms where a single column runs both speech and music. The CBT 70J-1 array cabinet is sold separately. Pair the two and you get one continuous column on the wall with a single set of mounting points and a cleaner sightline than stacking separate boxes.
