The JBL Control 128WT is an 8 in two-way in-wall speaker with a built-in 70V/100V transformer built for rooms that need output and low-end weight from hardware nobody notices. A 200 mm (8 in) polymer-coated aluminum-cone woofer with a butyl rubber surround moves real air, and a 25 mm (1 in) pure-titanium dome tweeter rides a low-diffraction swivel mount with 10 degrees of aim toward the listening position.

Bandwidth is 38 Hz to 20 kHz with 90 dB sensitivity, two dB more than the 6.5 in model, so you get more level from the same amplifier. Coverage measures 180 degrees horizontal by 160 degrees vertical, wide enough that a pair covers a boardroom, retail floor, or restaurant without leaving dead zones between units. A second-order crossover handles the handoff between woofer and tweeter.

Power handling is 50 W continuous pink noise, 100 W continuous program, and 200 W peak at 8 ohms. The built-in transformer adds 70V taps at 50 W, 25 W, 12 W, and 6 W, plus 100V taps at 50 W, 25 W, and 12 W, so long speaker runs share one amplifier with level set per zone.

The cabinet-free in-wall design uses the stud bay as its enclosure, with an optimum air cavity of 40 to 80 liters. Overall size is 13.1 x 10.1 x 4.3 in with 4.0 in of depth behind the wall face, fitting a 11.9 x 8.9 in cutout in walls up to 1.25 in thick. A cutout template and paint shield are included, and the screw-down Euroblock connector takes wire up to 14 AWG. For new construction, the optional WB8 rough-in frame mounts to studs before drywall.
