The JBL Control 25-1 is a two-way 5.25 in indoor and outdoor monitor for venues, health clubs, theme parks, cafes, and anywhere foreground music and paging share the same speaker. This pair handles 200 W of program material at 8 ohms with 90 dB sensitivity, so a modest amplifier gets loud.

The 5.25 in woven-fiberglass woofer uses a butyl rubber surround with WeatherEdge frame protection, a high-temperature Kapton voice coil former, and a linear suspension spider. Cone geometry is shaped for consistent response off-axis, which matters in rooms where people are rarely standing on the speaker's centerline. The 0.75 in PEI diaphragm tweeter with ferro-magnetic fluid keeps the high end even rather than sharp.

Coverage is 100 by 100 degrees, and frequency response runs 60 Hz to 20 kHz at minus 10 dB, 85 Hz to 17 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB.

Wiring works either way. Take the 8 ohm thru setting for a local amplifier, or select the built-in multi-tap transformer at 30 W, 15 W, 7.5 W, or 3.7 W on 70V lines (100V: 30 W, 15 W, 7.5 W) with under 0.94 dB insertion loss at any tap.

JBL's InvisiBall mounting hardware installs through a hidden access point behind the logo badge, so nothing visible holds the speaker to the wall and casual removal is not an option. The high-impact polystyrene enclosure and zinc-plated grille carry IP-44 protection, exceed Mil Spec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature, and UV, and pass ASTM G85 acid-air and salt-spray testing.

The white finish takes paint, so the speakers can match any wall. Each unit measures 9.6 x 7.4 x 5.7 in and weighs 7.5 lb.
